Here is my latest oud (July 2022) of which I only had time to make these pictures before it was collected by its commissioner. Cherry/cedar seems to become one of the wood combinations most requested from me: the next in line is another cherry/cedar, an 8-course oud. With time, the cherry wood darkens to a warm reddish-brown and its aesthetic properties are undisputed, but only few cherry trees yield first class tonewood. The tree I used for this oud had grown slowly in the shade of large trees in the forest and I cut it perfectly quartersawn. But please don't forget: what matters most is the sound! As for a sound sample, please refer to the recording with Yasamin Shahhosseini on the Sound page.
